Baby Proofing Your House

Having a baby can be a wonderful time in a family's life. It also can be stressful and worrisome. Nothing scares parents more then seeing their young toddler get hurt or find himself in a dangerous situation. Make sure you baby proof your house in order to protect your young toddler.

Electrical Outlets

One of the most common precautions a parent can do is plug up all of the electrical outlets in the entire house. Toddlers are curious and if the opportunity is present they will stick and object or their fingers into the outlets and get shocked. These are cheap and easy to install so make sure its a first priority on your baby proofing checklist.

Cupboards And Shelves

So many dangerous things can be found in your home shelves and cupboards. One of the most dangerous places is under the sink. Most people keep toxic chemicals and cleaners in this area. Stop your child from opening them with a child safety door stopper. These are also cheap and very easy to install yourself.

Doors And Closets

Make sure all the doors in the house have child safety door stoppers. Children will have a hard time opening these doors if you put these around the entire house. You never know if you leave your child for a minute they could leave the house or get into a dangerous room.

Furniture Edges Or Other Sharp Objects

If you have a table with a sharp corner make sure you have soft material covering each corner. Sometimes bed frames have really sharp corners that babies could potentially be harmful. Also make sure you keep all of the window cords out of reach.

Many children grab a hold of them and wrap them around their necks. You can purchase twist ties and wrap up the cord so the toddler can't reach it. Also make sure heavy or loose items are out of reach or secured down. If a child were to pull down on a table cloth with something heavy atop, the large table item could fall and crush them.

One other thing if you have stairs is a baby stopper. The come in many shapes and sizes but all are important to have in order to stop your toddler from toppling down the stairs. Last tip is to always watch your young toddler. They can get into so many dangerous situations in a split second. One example is when you give them a bath. Make sure you bring the phone in the bathroom before you start. 10 second it takes you to get the phone could be to late.

These of course are a few basic precautions you can take. Make sure you study up and ensure that your child is completely safe in the house.
