Tips to Keep Your House Clean

Do you feel like you are constantly doing dishes, cleaning bathrooms, and folding laundry every hour of every day? Do you feel like you are always cleaning up after others? Keeping a clean house is important, but it shouldn't rule and take over your lives. You can have a clean house and a life all at the same time. Here are four tips on keeping a clean house, but enjoying your life, as well!

1- Do a Little Bit, Everyday

Instead of doing hour long deep cleanings every week, do a little bit of cleaning everyday. Simply set some time aside to do the very minimum; pick up toys off the floor, empty the dishwasher, do a load of laundry. Set the timer for thirty minutes to an hour, and when the alarm sounds, stop what you are doing and move on with your life. Doing just a little bit of cleaning everyday can help your house look tidy yet will save you from hours of housework every week.

2- Clean Up for the Company

When you are going to have family or friends over, do a "clean sweep" through the entire house. Make sure the bathrooms are clean, the floors are swept, the furniture is dusted and polished. This should take a matter of minutes and will help you feel good about the presentation of your home.

3- Invest in Cleaning Products

Somehow, having new cleaning products makes one feel a bit more excited about cleaning the house. There are many cleaning products on today's market that can really help with the cleaning, disinfecting, and organization of the home. Cleaning products can be pricey; however, discount stores such as "dollar stores" have a wide variety of "no-name" cleaning products that do just the same job as the more expensive name brands found in grocery stores or hardware stores. Discount stores offer a wide variety of organizational bins and storage containers as well.

4- Involve the Family

Each member of the family should have a specific chore or responsibility in the home. For younger children, this could be the picking up of their toys or bedroom. For older children, it could be the cleaning of bathrooms, dish duty, or even doing their own laundry. Cleaning house together as a family teaches responsibility and good work ethic. Children are more likely to keep the house clean when they know that they are in charge of a specific area or duty.

Cleaning the house together is also a "team work" activity. Cleaning house can be monotonous and exhausting at times. However, with a little planning and time spent on it every day, you can be more in control of it and have a happy, clean, healthy home.
