How Religion Benefits One's Life

Since the beginning of the human race, man has searched for and believed in a higher power or a creator of life. In the world today there are many different belief systems each with their own doctrine. Some, if not many religions share similar doctrine and beliefs. Regardless of what any certain individual chooses to believe, it may be generally agreed upon that having religion or a belief system in one's life is greatly beneficial to them in helping live a happy, healthy life.

Religion Gives Purpose And Perspective

In this fast paced and stressful world we live in, it can become easy at times to lose focus on what our life is really all about. Many people get caught up in simply working and paying the bills and life one day seems to be passing them by. Religion provides a purpose for those individuals that choose to apply the principles taught in their lives. One realizes that there is more to life than work or play or even making money. To live a happy existence, one needs to focus on their family and their moral performance.

Religion also gives perspective. Many religions teach that there is life after death. According to this teaching, there will be some type of judgment of our performance here in this life. With this belief in mind, there is added reason to make moral decisions and try to live as good a life as possible.

Religion Provides A Value System

Religion teaches a moral code of conduct. There is a certain set of values that followers are expected to observe. Many religions encourage a set of values or rules that are not made up solely of things they should not do, but also things that they should do. This can be especially important for the young people in the world today. There has never before been more influence by evil in the world than what is currently found. Pornography, for example, has become so accessible that nearly 40 percent of all websites found on the internet contains "adult" content.

This kind of content is ever-readily available on their cell phones as well. Much of today's music and media promotes immoral behavior more than ever and is presented in a way that gives the impression that if one chooses not to participate they are strange and do not fit in society. The pressures young people face on a daily basis is unlike anything witnessed by previous generations.

Religion Inspires Us To Help And Serve Others

Religion inspires and encourages people to reach out to the poor and misfortunate. Religion encourages people to think about others and not always themselves. Religion teaches us that to truly be happy we must step out of our comfort zone and serve those around us. Doing so opens our eyes to the needs of those around us and makes us feel better about our own trials and struggles that we may face in our own lives.
